LCD screens

Plasma screens

The invention of plasma screen technology was first made in the 1970s. You need an electric current to illuminate the mixture of gases in plasma screens. These two harmless gases become plasma as a result. This ultraviolet light is invisible to the human eye because it is ultraviolet. The visible color light is created by pixels, which are red, green, and blue matches scattered across the screen.

The plasma principle allows for wide screens that are only a few millimeters thick. This is unlike CRT televisions. It also offers good contrast at 160 degrees angles and generates a broad color spectrum.

Two professors at the University of Illinois, Donald L. Bitzer (left) and H. Gene Slottow (right) are responsible for this technology. They wanted to create a computer-based teaching method. The prototype plasma screen was monochrome and was first presented in 1964.
